Better Value Plumbing and Heating was first registered as a sole proprietorship in 1989 and was later incorporated in 2004.
What started as a one man show has grown to a team of 10 employees; 5 journeyman plumbers, 3 apprentices, and two office staff.

Each of our plumbers are “home grown” – that is they started their apprenticeship with us and are now licensed journeyman.

We take training seriously at BVPH. In addition to plumbing licenses we carry two well technician certifications as required by the MOE to work on well water pumps, two backflow prevention licenses.

We have attended many training courses and seminars on radiant floor and hydronic heating. We regularly attend courses offered by local suppliers to stay up to date on both new products and current product we sell and service.

Norman Maukonen, owner of Better Value Plumbing, possesses a multi license for gas, oil, and propane heating – note this is to show we have knowledge of but we do not actually do any of this type of heating.

We offer a full line of water filtration and treatment and are fully trained to install and service products by USF Watergroup, Trojan, and Pentair.

We recently took full training on Navien and Veissmann on demand water heaters and boilers.

At Better Value Plumbing, we believe that a highly trained technician is the only way to achieve the standard of excellence our customers demand. The various government authorities recognize this also, which is why ongoing training is a requirement of maintaining these licenses. Many homeowners are unaware that plumbers must possess a license to work in their homes. Any work on a water well must be done by a properly licensed technician. The consequences of hiring an unlicensed individual can result in heavy fines to not only the worker but to the homeowner as well.
